Hey Medora, thanks for the comment! I saw on her wikipedia page that Bechdel is working on another graphic memoir - I will be looking forward to reading that as well.

Hey Abby!

I just read this book a few months ago. I found your analysis quite accurate, and I'm looking forward to checking out the background info you linked too.

Lorelei! Your food blog looks pretty awesome. I really like what you've done with it. I will make more comments over on your blog instead of here. But I really like the fat acceptance/intuitive eating-inspired recipe blog. Now I want to cook those yummy foods!

Actually now that I think about it, other than a couple of books, my christmas present last year was money to open a Roth IRA. And my birthday present was stuff like a cable modem and a wireless router for my apartment. Ah youth indeed.

There's a costume rental place close to my apartment that my bus route passes by every day. There is a big sign in one window advertising "sexy dream girl leg adventure." That is all the sign says.

I do not know what a leg adventure is, but I have a bad feeling about it.

I hate making Christmas lists too, but I also hate not having any idea what to get my family for Christmas. Or else knowing that all my dad really wants is tech toys I cannot afford. I can at least make donations to charity for my parents, and they appreciate that. I'll probably do the same thing this year.

I've started making an Amazon wishlist for my parents, since they too would be disappointed if I said "just donate to charity." They might not be angry, but they'd insist on buying something anyway, and it might as well be something I want. Anyway, adding stuff to the Amazon list as it catches my attention is a lot easier than coming up with things on the spot.
But then my sister's amazon wishlist is always full of anime action figures, which she already has 8 million of, and jewelry she will never wear, and other stuff no one wants to buy her. So things happen like last Christmas when three people, including me bought her Rainbow Brite and the Star-Stealer from half.com after we saw it on her Amazon wishlist. Usually I end up getting her books. By now I am pretty good at predicting her taste in books, so it is fairly safe.

man, this is a long comment. probably because we never have real conversations. I miss having conversations with you, Abby!

Hey! Thanks for leaving a comment on my page. Although I didn't have much of a review going on, I think you really got down to what WALL-E is about. To add to your rebuttal of the "Fat-E" article, I'd like to say that the use of obesity in this movie was genius. Pixar managed to make a kid-friendly satire, simultaneously biting and amusing. Stating that the movie is mocking the obese is absurd.
I believe the message is not “Wall-E tells us that if we don’t change the way we live, we’ll all get really fat and destroy the world.”
but, "as we become more oblivious to our effect on the planet, we will completely lose sight of what we are doing to ourselves as well as our exhaustible resources."

Thanks for the comment Shan! Yeah, that is the pun I heard to, I just didn't quite articulate it in the post. Also, I found out later that the line is actually, "Buy N' Large, everything you need to survive", which I still think is hilarious.
